Presentazione del corso

Over the last 10 years, the perspective on cardiac amyloidosis has deeply changed, following major advances in diagnosis and treatment options.

This heterogeneous disease requires a strict interaction among experts of different specialties and subspecialties. As we know, suspicion of disease, timely recognition and confirmation of final diagnosis, prognostic stratification, overall management and therapeutic strategies represent ongoing challenges for the modern Cardiology.

Missing or delayed diagnosis may have significant impact on patient outcome, especially for the aTTR forms.

The present workshop aims to focus on standardized approach to the diagnosis of cardiac amyloidosis in Italy and Europe, and to discuss the challenging clinical scenarios encountered in routine activity for cardiologists and physicians of different specialties dealing with patients with suspected or established cardiac amyloidosis.

Particularly, the workshop faculty will take in consideration:

1) the diagnostic work-up including the multi-modality imaging;

2) the approved treatments for aTTR forms and the therapeutic perspective for the future;

3) the valvular involvement diagnosis and treatment;

4) the complications, including heart failure and arrhythmic events;

5) particular populations like elderly and frail patients;

6) progression, monitoring and whole prognosis.

Cases presentation will be useful in understanding the “real life” of the disease management.

A particular attention will be given to the costs and sustainability of new treatments for the public Health Systems.
